What We Teach

In addition to the three critical Christian character-building concepts of surrender, obedience, and service (SOS), Innerfaith Discipleship Program believes that discipleship to Jesus is the continual surrender of all of life to God’s good design for identity, purpose, and belonging. Each of these areas of God’s good design are answers to the most important questions a man should ask:

1.    Who am I? - Identity

God has an ultimate plan for how we identify. As we progress through life, it is natural for us to search for who we really are. Our wounds and failures tend to speak the loudest as we grasp for strands of an identity. But the same God who spoke all of creation into existence declares that we are His forgiven children—redeemed, perfectly loved, and wonderfully made. Therefore, our human identity is not something to be compiled by our experiences but something given to us by our Father.

2.    Why am I here? - Purpose

Every person has a divine purpose for their life. Knowing the times in which we would live and the boundaries of our habitation, God uniquely wired and placed us so that men might seek and find Him to do the good things he planned for us long ago. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to declare His glory in whatever we do and wherever we find ourselves. This is our purpose.

3.    How do I fulfill my purpose? - Belonging

Family, social belonging, and community support are all intricate parts of God’s design for our lives. All who are led by the Spirit have been adopted into the family of God. He gives to His children a unique identity, places us into time exactly where He wants us, and calls us to flourish, not on our own, but in a family of fellow believers. This is accomplished through understanding our roles and responsibility in family and gathering with other believers to worship Him. If we are His children, then we are also heirs to His kingdom. We are heirs to the truest place of belonging. It is because of the tremendous amount of study, introspection, learning, and work required concerning these three questions that Innerfaith Discipleship Program is a mandatory minimum of 6 months!

When a man has come to the end of himself; when he has hit rock bottom and his spirit is truly broken, he must be completely ready and willing to bury his former self and become a new creation through Christ Jesus.
